CHRISTINE YAKUBEC devoted 35 years of
her life to the teaching of students from widely different
backgrounds, both academically and culturally. This large
portion of her life naturally stirred a genuine interest in
not only teaching but encouraging young people to be
themselves and live up to their full potential.
After retiring from the Florida school system (Miami and
Panama City), she returned to New York state, the place of
her birth, upbringing and education. She continues to work
for the Public School District on a part-time basis.
She received her BS in Elementary Education and MS in
Reading and is certified in five subject areas in the state
of Florida, as well as New York. Throughout the years she
has served as a teacher, trainer and mentor of beginning
teachers as well as a co-chair for a literacy group on a
high school level.
Her primary focus remains the bettering of young people,
whether she comes across them in her work or in her personal
life.
