Foreign Visitors...
BUSINESS:
At The Etiquette School of New York,
we allow the business professional to learn in an elegant,
dignified, relaxed and confidential environment. Our lessons
are interesting, engaging and designed specifically for the
business professional visiting us from another country that
wants to learn to efficiently conduct business the
“American” way.
Our courses cover proper greetings and the four types of
introductions used in the United States. We review the
American business meeting, conference room set-up and
explain what is important, what is expected and why. We
teach American social courtesies and the subtle nuances that
can take place during meetings and conferences. And, we take
the time to cover American idioms so that you are able to
understand the inferred meanings if they should happen to be
used during your business dealings.
Classes cover the American cocktail party; the business
lunch and dinner, and even coffee or afternoon tea where
meetings frequently take place these days. We will assist
you in understanding when it is appropriate to pay the bill,
split the check and when to accept being the guest. We
discuss in depth, all nuances so the check never becomes an
issue in your business dealings.
Taking time and making the effort to understand the art of
doing business in a country different from one’s own will
provide an edge over your competitors and puts you just
another step closer to closing the deal. We offer our
lessons privately, semi-privately or in small groups. We
have the ability to bring corporate groups to our school or
we can come to you.
Additionally, if your company allows your family to join you
for an extended stay in the United States, we also provide a
separate, fun and engaging program for wives (or husbands)
and children, which exposes your family to our American
culture. We visit cultural sites, teach simple American
cooking and even classes in craft projects that will
familiarize your family with our American holidays and
traditions.
We are barely a three-hour train ride or car ride north from
New York City in the beautiful Victorian city of Saratoga
Springs.

LEARNING CONVERSATIONAL ENGLISH WITH A NATIVE SPEAKER
The The Etiquette School of New York

during the month of July. We combine sightseeing,
vacationing and learning English with a native speaker
throughout the week. (We provide a translator if necessary.)
We take our guests throughout Saratoga Springs and the
Adirondack Mountains to fun places of interest. We will go
to the world famous horse racing track in Saratoga Springs,
dine at some of the wonderfully charming restaurants, and
shop at some the many, many unique boutiques the city has to
offer. There is also the ability to have breakfast in the
mountains, a casual climb up Prospect Mountain in Lake
George with a gourmet picnic lunch at the top. The view goes
on for over 50 miles covering pristine mountains, lakes and
villages of the region. There is swimming, croquet, tennis,
golf, barbeques and so much more available. Some guests like
to come and paint our spectacular countryscapes, while
others like to take an overnight trip to New York City.
Additionally, we can arrange for attendance at one of the
many professional concerts or a ballet at the Saratoga
Performing Arts Center (SPAC). SPAC is the summer home to
