Why teach adults etiquette?

Imagine being completely confident in any social situation, you ever found yourself. Imagine never second-guessing your thoughts or actions in such circumstances. This is what the knowledge of social graces can do for you. Etiquette allows you to treat others graciously and with respect, as well as possessing a greater amount of self-confidence because you understand the unspoken rules of human interaction. Studying etiquette is simply another aspect of working towards becoming the best “you,”
you are capable of becoming.

Etiquette and proper social skills are not only for those of financial means or social standing. Neither is etiquette a set of rigid rules that one must follow or become an outcast of society. View manners simply as the niceties and respect we give to one another.

No matter what our position in life, every one of us interacts with many different people each day. We will always find ourselves in the presence of individuals older than ourselves, and those younger than we are. We will work with people in positions of more authority then we hold, and with individuals that have less authority than we ourselves have. To make these interactions positive and productive, social graces are used. Courtesy makes the work environment not only nicer for everyone but also more efficient and therefore, more effective.
